More Art Journaling Fun.....

Our WORD for last week's 52 Weeks Art Journal Challenge was  PERSEVERANCE.  Here is what I came up with:

During the week I also did this little treasure in my home-made recycled journal which I blogged about HERE

And then these little beauties done in my God Journal:

Well that's it from my hot and sweltering studio this week...
I hope that you are having a more comfortable week wherever you may be :o)

A Creative Feast....

This week I have decided to share a  feast of photos with you  : all the little projects I have been working on lately- hope they inspire you- Enjoy!

Little valentines parcels I made for each member of my household. Caramel-centred chocolate hearts. I put them into little purple baggies tied with a crochet heart. And then put them  into recycled envelopes with a sparkly text heart and jute bow and added a printed  message that says: "you are loved".

I made these bright cushions to cheer up the bench on the veranda (porch).

I painted these tiny mixed media canvasses (10x10cm) .  Wish you could see all the lovely layers and the great texture which doesn't show up on the photos. (These are for sale)

I love this little crocheted owl and decided he looked very nice in this wire cage- so thats his new home. He seems very happy there :o)  You can find the tutorial to make these owls HERE

.
More recycled food cans - now fun pencil tins

Some quick crocheted cross bookmarks.

My latest scrapbook page - done with artist's gesso. (photo still to be added to the page).

A small crochet cushion cover made with 100% hand-spun cotton yarn. I added some flowers made with 100% bamboo yarn.

A crochet throw that I am working on, using a yarn called Bambi (blend of 70% cotton and 30% bamboo). It has a beautiful hand-spun texture and is hand-dyed in SA. (Available from WOOLHOGS)

My friend, Helen, showed me how to do the crochet ripple pattern which I have been wanting to try out for ages. This was the sample piece I did to learn the stitch. I will be making it into a cushion cover sometime soon - WATCH THIS SPACE :o)

And this is the winter blanket that I have started on using the ripple pattern. WHAT WAS I THINKING when I chose those colours you ask?  I really just dont know!!!  But I am hoping they will grow on me!  (The red is actually more of a wine red although it looks very fire-engine red on this photo and the colour that looks grey is actually taupe.)

And THAT is what I have been up to in the last few weeks in case you were  wondering :o)
I hope that you have been creative and productive too.  Please leave a comment and let me know what creative "mischief" you've been up to.....

much love
Angella

Art Journal Week 7/52

Well Week 7 of 2013 has come and gone.  Dianna chose the word DREAM for this weeks Art Journal page.
So many creative things that can be done with this word, however, this is what expressed itself as I sat down to do this page:

I sprayed the page with a light misting of pale blue irridescent ink spray - then sprayed with water to create "water marks and drops". Added some darker blue spatters with acrylic ink and a toothbrush.
Drew on swirls with watercolor pencil and added textured stars with a stencil and white Gesso.  I inked the edges of the pages with blue stamp pad. I printed the wording on my PC then tore it and inked around it and glued it to the page. The page still seemed to need something extra so I stamped the word DREAM lightly onto the background in a random fashion.  It did turn out to be a very gentle , dreamy page. I like it!

COMING SOON:  some fun craft projects that I have been working on in the last few weeks....

Have a blessed, creative, relaxed Sunday!
much love

Art Journaling Week 6/52

Dianna chose a very challenging  word for this weeks art journaling page:
ABSTRACT
O Boy- I am not great with abstract but when I actually got down to it - it was quite easy and FUN!
I started by gluing down sky blue and lime green off cuts of paper that I had been using for another project. Then I added lime green patterned paper pieces.  I then sprayed over alphabet and block stencils with purple acrylic ink in a spritz bottle.  Then used a swirl stencil and used gesso instead of paint to stencil the swirls onto the page. I added the dictionary definition of ABSTRACT at the bottom of the left page.
I cut out letters from old magazines to make up the word "Abstract".
I then "sealed" the page with Artists Gel Medium.

Loved doing this page and I think that its my FAVORITE so far !!!! surprisingly enough. :o)

Busy, Busy, Busy....

This week I am so busy..... My main task however is to try and get ready for the Valentine's Market on Saturday (9 Feb) at St. James's Church.  I haven't had a stall at a market for a rather long time so I am out of the loop.  I have done mostly crocheted items for the market but also a few art canvasses and recycled items.
Here is a set of 6 really cute coasters I made with 100%  DK cotton yarn:

And this is what  my preperation looks like so far, for the market - still lots of labeling etc to do:

Its been fun crocheting up a storm of little colourful hearts and flowers!

Wishing you all a blissful rest of the week and a happy relaxing weekend.
much love
Angella.

Week 5/52 Art Journaling

Well, here it is: week 5 of 52 - my art journal page for the week. I am so proud of myself for sticking to my committment with this challenge- and its been such fun so far!
This week's word is "Personality".

Read the journaling on the top of this page to see what my page is all about.

Techniques:  I sprayed the background with Enmarc Dazzles Spray- it contains a tiny bit of a sparkle. As you can just make out in this pic if you look carefully:
I stamped a large star, in gold paint onto the background.  I added funky scrapbooking journal tags (that I have been dying to use). I added the word PERSONALITY in my own handwriting as well as some journaling explaining this page.  I also added a sketchy black border to the page to finish it off.  The image on page one is cut from a sheet of gift wrap. I added a pink chipboard bracket to page one to complete the design.

Today I am also sharing Dianna's page  with you because I just LOVE it:
